Laboratory Values and Guidelines

– Trust, Integrity, Independence, and Dialogue –

1. Think and Act for Yourself

Research is not something you do just because you are told to — we value the ability to think for yourself and take initiative. Making mistakes is not a major issue. At first, aim to follow the instructions of supervisor or senior members carefully, and gradually challenge yourself to come up with your own ideas and take action.

◆ 2. Work with Integrity and Communicate Effectively

Conducting experiments and recording results carefully and accurately is fundamental. Even if an experiment doesn’t go well, the outcome is still valuable data. Always record honestly and never manipulate results—this builds trust. We will provide lab notebooks for this purpose.
Please be diligent in checking and replying to messages on Slack, LINE, and email, our main communication tools. If you encounter any problems, don’t hesitate to reach out. We value a lab culture where no one works alone—we support each other as a team.

  3. Value Your Health and Life Outside the Lab

Our lab has core hours from 10:00 to 18:00, but flexible adjustments are possible (e.g., after a late experiment the previous night). Research is a long-term journey. We encourage each member to find a sustainable balance between research and personal life.
If you're feeling unwell, delayed by transportation, or facing any difficulties, please inform us. Communication helps us support each other.

4. Grow Through Interaction with Others

Our lab is a place of dialogue and co-creation. By engaging in discussions and being open to different perspectives, you’ll find opportunities to grow intellectually and personally.
Our research is supported by society—through public funding such as taxes. Always approach your work with sincerity, and carry a strong awareness of your responsibility to give back to society through your research.
